sadmacs builds open-source hardware that breathes new life into classic Macintosh computers. We believe these machines deserve better than a shelf — they should be usable, expandable, and fun.
It started with a Macintosh SE and a question: what if you could keep the original CRT but replace everything behind it with modern hardware? The Pi Interface HAT was the answer — a Raspberry Pi running real Mac OS 7.5.5, driving the original 9" screen at its native 512×342 resolution.
From there, the project grew. The PDS accelerator card tackles the SE's biggest limitation: one expansion slot that forces you to choose between speed, RAM, and networking. We're building a card that does all three.
All hardware designs are released under the CERN Open Hardware Licence v2. Schematics, PCB layouts, and firmware are available on Forgejo.
